I give constructive criticism of your work. I will be very honest but polite. When I read a story I ask myself if this is something I would pay to read in a magazine or an online venue. If it is, I will tell you why, if not I will tell you why it's not. Please do not send me rough drafts. If it is not a finished copy, then I don't want to see it because the errors tend to be too distracting from the actual story.
Generally long winded... I tend to hone in on aspects of a story that I feel the author underdeveloped and then encourage them to enhance them.
My style is a bit chaotic, as I jump from element to element depending on how large they loom in my mind. I may one day employ a template,to cover plot, theme, characters, settings, etc.. but for now I just comment on the parts of the story I feel compelled to address.
Because my own spelling and grammar is atrocious, I leave those suggestions to your spellcheck and the more technical reviewers kind enough to visit your work.
I'll usually review with my favorite part or piece of your work, then lead into why I thought it was important. I try not to mention grammar or spelling errors, as we all make them. I'm more concerned with the overall feeling of your item.
I'll offer constructive criticism on your prose, grammar, spelling, formatting, and other technical elements. I'll also offer feedback on your storytelling, pacing, and character development.
I like to always pick out the positive points in a piece, even if overall I am not enamoured by it.
I tend to point out grammatical and spelling errors.
I will be honest, but not unkind
I try to be honest and positive. My Christian faith is an important background factor. I hate rating low but have a system that determines how I grade.
I will say what I liked about your piece and if I have any suggestions for improvement. My reviews are usually short, sweet and to the point. I prefer to review short stories but will look at poetry if asked to.
In a single word, thorough. I will turn your piece upside down, shake the change out of its pockets and look at even the most minute details. I can be technical but will do so when emphasizing a larger point about the piece as a whole.
As a reviewer of your work, I will first look for identification in what you are presenting. When a reader can truly identify with the writer, emotion sets in and the story becomes a part of the reader as well as the writer.
Hi! I'll be happy to tell you what I like about your item's content and what emotion it evokes in me. If I see an area or two that need attention by way of improvement, I'll make suggestions for you. I will try to word my reviews in such a way that might garner you more views for the item when seen on the public reviewing page and here, in my reviewing forum. I will always do my best to carry on the Simply Positive motto.
My review style is personal, structured, and emotionally driven. I aim to balance honest praise with thoughtful, constructive critique, always offering suggestions that help strengthen the work. I try to keep my tone respectful and supportive because I believe feedback should encourage, not discourage. My goal is to help writers grow, not just improve one piece.
I dissect stories like a surgeon with a poet’s hands—probing the emotional marrow, not just the bones. My reviews prioritize thematic resonance, psychological authenticity, and prose that feels before it explains. I’ll ask why the rain in your story smells like regret, or how the silence between lovers becomes its own character. Technical critiques (pacing, grammar) come only if requested—I’m here to unravel why your story haunts, not just how it functions.
Casual for the most part. I will point out errors I see and offer suggested corrections. I like to focus on the content and formatting of the item. I love providing helpful comments and feedback that may improve the item if acted on.
